The Andaman business map in numbers: what 881 listings show
This directory started with a simple question: what businesses can a visitor actually find in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and where? We gathered public business listings and sorted them by island and by type. Here is what the numbers say. They describe the listings in this directory at the time of writing, not every business in the islands.
Most listings are in Port Blair
Of 881 listings, 698 are in Port Blair. That is no surprise: it is the main town, so it has the most shops, clinics, schools and offices. Havelock has 64 listings, Neil has 36, Rangat 24, Bambooflat 21, Mayabunder 13, Diglipur 11 and Little Andaman 9. Nicobar and Baratang have only a few.

The tourist islands look different
Havelock and Neil are small, and what they list is mostly for visitors. Havelock has 16 stays, 14 places to eat and 11 water-activity operators. Neil has 11 stays and 7 water-activity operators. Port Blair is where local daily life is: shops, services and health care make up most of its listings.
What this means for visitors
If you are planning a trip, expect more choice and more competition for rooms and activities in Havelock and Neil in busy months, so it helps to call ahead. In Port Blair, you will find almost everything you need before you take a ferry to a smaller island.
What this means for owners
Many small businesses have no website and only a phone number on a map listing. A claimed page with your menu, photos and opening hours is a simple way to stand out. You can create a free account and claim your page.
Counts are from the directory listings when this article was written and will change as businesses are added or removed.
