Meet the owner: Mohammed Khizar, Lead Audiologist. Mohammed is an HCPC-registered clinical audiologist with more than 20 years of experience in NHS and independent practice. He founded Earwax Specialist to give patients across Birmingham and the West Midlands fast, safe, same-day ear care without waiting for a GP referral.

How we work
- Specialist assessment. We take your case history and run a video otoscopy, and you see your ear canal on a live screen.
- Microsuction. We use a Zoellner suction probe under direct endoscopic view.
- Aftercare and prevention advice.
All procedures are carried out by HCPC-registered audiologists using ENT-grade endoscopes, suction systems and strict infection control.

Questions and answers
How long does an ear wax removal appointment take?
Most appointments take 20 to 30 minutes in total, including 10 to 15 minutes of treatment.
Do I need a GP referral?
No. You can book directly, and we can often see you the same day. Call 0121 369 0780 or book online.
How much does ear wax removal cost?
£50 for one ear or £70 for both, and £80 for children aged 5 to 10. Home visits start from £80. If we find no wax, you pay only a £20 consultation fee. Full hearing assessments for adults are free.
Can children have ear wax removal?
Yes, we see children over the age of 5. Because children have smaller ear canals, only our experienced audiologists carry out the procedure.
Do I need olive oil drops first?
If you can, use 2 to 3 drops of olive oil once or twice a day for 3 to 5 days before your visit. If you need to be seen sooner, we can still see you the same day.
Do you offer hearing aids?
Yes. Mohammed Khizar and the team fit and support digital hearing aids from Phonak, Oticon, Signia, ReSound, Bernafon, Starkey and Unitron. Finance is available.
